Delivery:

We normally deliver by Royal Mail, UPS, FedEx, DHL, a specialist furniture delivery company or our own transport. We endeavour to have the goods arrive within 7 days of order confirmation, but for items of furniture please allow up to 21 days for delivery.

For deliveries overseas, please be aware that delivery time may be longer and there may be customs/import duties to pay - these are the responsibility of the buyer. Please contact us if you have any queries.

Collection of goods from our premises is also welcome.

All goods sent by post/courier are dispatched on a fully tracked and signed for delivery service and are insured against loss. Please note that as most carriers will not cover antiques, furniture or fragile items against damage in transit, everything has to be carefully packed to limit risk of damage as much as possible. Items sent using our furniture delivery service are insured against damage. If there is any damage visible to the packaging on arrival, please take photos before opening and mark the delivery note as ‘damaged’.

Order Cancellations & Returns:

You may cancel your order if the item is not as described up to 14 days after you receive the goods (the statutory minimum is 7 days). Notice of cancellation should be sent to hello@antiqueandunique.co.uk - cancellations must be received in writing. Goods must be returned in the original condition and shipped at your cost. The goods must be securely wrapped and packaged before shipping in the original packaging or similar equivalent. Once the returned goods have been received and checked, you will be issued a full refund via the same payment method used for purchase. Original postage/delivery costs can not be refunded.

Condition of items:

We always make every effort to describe items accurately with plenty of photographs so that you can form an accurate idea of the items appearance, colour and condition. But what one person sees as acceptable wear and tear another person might think is not acceptable so please ensure you study the photos of the item and zoom in if necessary - we are always happy to forward high resolution images by email if you feel you can’t see something clearly enough on the website photos. Here is a non exhaustive list of what we consider ‘acceptable wear and tear’ for a selection of common stock items, and which therefore may not be mentioned in the item description:

  • Ceramics - minor crazing to the glaze we consider acceptable on most items.

  • Glassware - very minor surface scratches we consider acceptable unless on a very high value item.

  • Copper/brass/pewter items - minor surface dents we consider acceptable. These items may also have a degree of tarnishing which is difficult to define as acceptable or not, as people have different preferences when it comes to the finish, some preferring highly polished brass and copper, others preferring a duller appearance.

  • Artwork - minor wear to frames we consider acceptable. Ideally the artwork itself should be free of any blemishes, but we do consider lower value antique watercolours that have faded or yellowed a little to be acceptable.

  • Antique treen/wooden items - surface patina, minor stains and blemishes are considered acceptable and in our opinion add to the charm of these items.

  • Antique tea caddies - wear to the original metal foil lining, if retained, is considered acceptable.

  • Antique furniture - this varies hugely by the individual items age, style and value of course, but generally the things we consider acceptable are: surface patina arising from general age and use, ie, wax residue, variations in colour where the item has received more handing such as on drawer fronts and chair arms, ink stains to the interior of writing furniture such as bureaus and desks etc; some wear to drawer runners on chests of drawers (any excessive wear that affects the operation of the drawer will have been rectified); old woodworm holes, unless excessive (any item of furniture that we have with any signs of woodworm will be treated against woodworm as a precaution); missing keys, unless they key is the sole means of opening the door/drawer; uneven or slightly rough surfaces to drawer interiors - drawers often had paper drawer liners to separate their contents from the surface of the drawer.

  • Mirrors - minor foxing to antique mirror plates is considered acceptable.
