A beautiful period oak table that is just the right size to seat six people. The colour and patina are absolutely gorgeous - my photos really don’t do it justice!
Condition: The base has been modified, and this is reflected in the price - originally the stretchers would have run around the outside of the legs, but it has been altered so that there is an H shape stretcher. This has made the table more practical for use with chairs, as previously you would have had to lift them over a stretcher to push them in, and this is presumably why it was done. I’m not sure if the timber for the stretchers is original to the table and has just been reused, or if it has come from elsewhere - it blends in with the rest of the table very well so I think it is probably original. The legs have had new pads applied at some point, presumably as the legs bases had worn or rotted. The top has cleated ends and one of them looks as though it has been repaired at some point. There are various areas of wear to the legs in accordance with age. The top is loose and locates onto the base with blocks. It has a slight bow to it so there is a bit of gap between the top and the base in places.
