The turned legs and stretchers on this table are incredible - the oak rings/fillets in between the bobbins are so fine that it is hard to comprehend how they were worked so beautifully on what must have been, well over three hundred years ago, a fairly primitive lathe. I have tried to show how delicate they are in the photos. The top is a good colour and opens out to an oval shape. A really beautiful little table.
Condition: The delicacy of the turning on the legs and stretchers has meant that some of the rings have been damaged, and there are chips to some of these throughout - please see the photos. There are signs of old woodworm infestation in places and we have treated it as a precaution where possible. The feet have had metal tips added at some point, presumably to protect the feet.
