Condition: Overall this is in good condition, though as with most items of this age there are some areas of damage/wear. There are some areas of loss to the timber of the floor which have caused a couple of small holes. The hinges are not original but have obviously been on it a long time, and there are some old metal reinforcement straps to the lid. There are areas of wear to the lid, mainly on the back edge - please see the photos. I believe the front top rail has been replaced as the moulding doesn’t line through with that on the sides, and there is no evidence of a lock, but it has been very well done and blends in perfectly. There is some old worm damage to the back - we have treated it against woodworm as a precaution.
