Condition: This was in a rather unloved state when we acquired it, but was structurally sound. We have cleaned it up as best we can without ruining the colour and patina - there are still some tiny paint flecks remaining in places. One of the legs had partially rotted away so we have removed the damaged timber and spliced in a new piece. There was obviously a metal latch on the lid originally, but this has been lost and there is now a hole, though it is rather nicely worn. The original wire hinges have been replaced with iron butt hinges. There is some damage to the interiors where an internal till has been removed. There are woodworm holes in various places - we have treated it against woodworm. There are various minor old repairs in places.
