This attractive pair of engravings each have a label on the rear from the ‘Antique Print Room’ in Sydney, Australia, which give the following information: ‘Rare Australian 18th century engraving. the first series on Australian flora and fauna produced from information collected in the infant colony under Governor Phillip’s leadership’, and, ‘Original copperplate engraving from the earliest and most comprehensive series produced of the fauna of the infant colony’. They are signed P Mazell - Peter Mazell was an Irish painter and engraver, working in London between c. 1761 and 1797.
Condition: The paper of both engravings is a little buckled. The Tabuan Parrot has some faint marks and discolouration around the edges, the Kingfisher also has some marks, but they are very faint and barely noticeable. Both frames are in good condition.
