These lovely plates are decorated in a rich shade of blue and are beautifully printed. I especially like the creature in the border pattern, though am not sure exactly what it is meant to be! On the back of one is a label that says ‘Japanese 1870, valued at £150 pair by John Twitchett at Royal Crown Derby factory show Sunday 3rd September 1995’. There is another label on the back of the other plate which presumably would have said the same thing, but this has been damaged and is no longer legible.
Condition: Both plates are in very good condition with no chips or cracks. One plate however does have various pits and flaws in the glaze which would have occurred during the firing process.
